I had a pretty rough day at work. I work over at the Grounds office at BYU and sometimes I am the only one working in the mornings. Grounds takes care of the outside maintenance at BYU (in case you didn’t know) and that includes snow removal. I really love working there because it’s always busy but on days when it snows, it can get hectic. I really don’t mind it too much but those on those days I tend to receive lots of phone calls of unhappy people who need to blame someone for the weather. After several phone calls of people putting you down, telling you you’re not doing your job, can be a little depressing. Not everyone is like this but it’s amazing how a few people can make your whole day sour. In looking for ways to cheer myself up I turned to music. Music is very powerful and can have a major effect on your emotions. The song that kept going through my head was Titanium. Some of the song lyrics include the singer proclaiming “I’m criticized, but all your bullets ricochet” and “You shoot me down, but I won’t fall. I am titanium!”. This helped me to realize that only I can bring myself down. No matter what others say, only I can let it affect me. This is a great song and although the music isn’t terribly upbeat, it has a great message. It can be very inspiring to those who might be having a rough day like I was.

It’s kinda fun to experience something at your school and then go home and see it on YouTube. Not only do we have to cool technology to do so but these people are on the ball to put this awesome video together so quick. We had freezing rain here in Utah that is not very typical from what I’ve heard. Check it out! Whoever put this together did a great job! I love the MJ music. Fits perfectly because they all look like they’re doing a moonwalk or something. The girls comment at the end is quite funny too.

This semester I’m taking a cycling class at BYU. We normally have workout plan for the day but today we watched the Ironman triathlon while we cycled. The Ironman is a race that takes place in Hawaii that consists of swimming, biking, and running to the finish! It is amazing how just watching something can be so inspiring! When they first started the race I could feel my heart pounding in excitement and I began to petal faster. Watching the end of the race and everyone’s reactions as they crossed the finish line helped to reinvigorate me. I pushed myself harder so that I too may feel satisfied that I had accomplished something good. I find it interesting how the media can be motivational. We can be influenced by others and receive enjoyment by watching those on TV! Even the music that was added made some of the parts more emotional. Here a great picture depicting some of the emotions that too place as people crossed the finish line!
