I had a pretty rough day at work. I work over at the Grounds office at BYU and sometimes I am the only one working in the mornings. Grounds takes care of the outside maintenance at BYU (in case you didn’t know) and that includes snow removal. I really love working there because it’s always busy but on days when it snows, it can get hectic. I really don’t mind it too much but those on those days I tend to receive lots of phone calls of unhappy people who need to blame someone for the weather. After several phone calls of people putting you down, telling you you’re not doing your job, can be a little depressing. Not everyone is like this but it’s amazing how a few people can make your whole day sour. In looking for ways to cheer myself up I turned to music. Music is very powerful and can have a major effect on your emotions. The song that kept going through my head was Titanium. Some of the song lyrics include the singer proclaiming “I’m criticized, but all your bullets ricochet” and “You shoot me down, but I won’t fall. I am titanium!”. This helped me to realize that only I can bring myself down. No matter what others say, only I can let it affect me. This is a great song and although the music isn’t terribly upbeat, it has a great message. It can be very inspiring to those who might be having a rough day like I was.
